Here are some ideas i'd like to get out in public, maybe sounds a bit crazy to implement i suppose but shutting up doesn't get anything done so here goes.
Some ideas:
Friendly rats: We have enemy npc rats, why not have friendly rats to help you kill that npc rat carrier, mothership or even a titan npc rat. Your mission might not involve shooting it down, the friendly rat fleet can do that, your missions can be like, scramble it before it warps and don't get killed, there might be some BS around for extra difficulty, fast ship or good tank is good enough to keep you alive, scramble till target destroyed, mission complete. This might be a crappy mission example, but with so many ships so many modules, should be easy for anyone to come up with a nice detailed missions.
Recon missions: Just another example, actually requires you to be able to scan/probe a rat down, depending on mission lets say it's about an enemy freighter warping around, your mission is to track it, a friendly npc black op with cyno generator is aiding you, you track down the freighter, scramble it, the friendly rat cyno's in a reinforcement rat, freighter is blown up, mission complete.
Mission modules: Maybe you don't have skills to fit modules required for the mission, no problem, some missions could provide you with a mission module, you don't need skill to fit and use it, however it doesn't work for pvp or anything else then the mission. For example a probe launcher mission module. Don't need to skill to use it. You can't scan other stuff then mission ships/structures, so it doesn't get used outside the mission. Another example can be a warp bubble, doesn't work on players but it will on the mission rats involved. Again there are so many modules, could come up with infinite amount of missions.
Mission ships: Certain missions could provide you a ship, if you don't have one yourself. Lets say a freighter, you can't fly one, you don't have money for one, but the mission provides you one. Can only be used for the mission, can't carry anything else the mission cargo and maybe other safety details need to be implemented so people don't start using mission ships for pvp but im just providing some rough ideas. Lets say this freighter has a large player owned structure in it, wich you need to deploy for a mission, put fuel in it, start it up. Many ships, many possibilities.
Im bet most of these ideas are just to much work to say the least. Personally i would really like to play pve missions if stuff like this would be implemented. Playing since 2007, did a bit of everything. I did some lvl 1 and 2 missions, i can count the lvl 3 and 4 missions on my hand. Felt like a grind very soon after i started eve, can't really say i enjoy doing missions anymore.
